VIGO AMARO

Philadelphia distilling’s Vigo, reflecting the adventurous spirit of its namesake, Francis Vigo, a revolutionary Italian financier who supported the colonial cause of independence. Unlike the big flavor strokes of spirits, typically distilled from limited ingredients, digestivos are incredibly nuanced, expressing the vast diversity of the plant world: fruits, flowers, barks, herbs, spices, seeds, roots, and nuts. in that tradition, Vigo Amaro is a darkly sweet American expression with the same complexity of the traditional Italian liqueur.

Tasting Notes

Our composition includes California dried plums, nutmeg, rose, elderflower, cinnamon, cinchona bark and kola nut. Rounded out by unrefined muscavado sugar, with a rich molasses flavor and touch of minerality that delivers a slight savory edge.

It was a challenge to develop a spirit that has so many ingredients to balance. But our purpose was to
deliver depth of flavor: well-rounded and yet with enough earthy roots to ground your taste buds.

Unlike the big flavor strokes of spirits, typically distilled from limited ingredients, digestivos are incredibly nuanced, expressing the vast diversity of the plant world. In that tradition, VIGO AMARO is a darkly sweet American ex - pression of the traditional Italian liqueur. Our composition includes California Dried Plums, Nutmeg, Rose, Elderflower, Cinnamon, Cinchona Bark, and Kola Nut, rounded out by unrefined Muscavado Sugar, with a rich molasses flavor and touch of minerality that delivers a slight savory edge.

The result is an authentic and approachable introduction to the world of digestivos. Whether you drink it straight or as part of a cocktail, gather round, open a bottle and let the conversation flow.

Aroma: Sweet and tart dried fruit, baking spices of Cinnamon & Nutmeg (aromatic woody-ness/rooty-ness) Kola, faint Vanilla, some Sugar/Molasses. Think Candied Plums rolled in warm Baking Spices.

Flavor: Syrupy sweetness, some tartness, fruit leather, a bit of prickly bitterness that clears the sweetness off the tongue, with some dark roasted or baked flavors.
